GREEN WORLD CHAMPIONS 2015

KEITI ARE CROWNED GREEN WORLD CHAMPIONS

Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute have won the prestigious title of Green World Champions 2015.

Last year’s winner was Yealands Wines of New Zealand, and part of their prize was for the awards to be presented in their homeland this year.  So next year, the Green World Awards presentation ceremony will be staged in Korea.

More than 50 guests from some of the world’s greenest organisation attended the event in Christchurch on October 19.

Commenting on KEITI’s achievement, Green Organisation chief executive RogerWolens said:

“The Green Credit Card scheme was set up in partnership between KEITI and the Korean Ministry of the Environment with private sector backing, and the initiative has established a novel credit card which rewards its users for making eco-friendly purchases.

“The rewards are delivered in the form of eco-money points and can be used against purchases, exchanged for cash, or to make donations to environmental funds.

“Uptake of the card has far exceeded expectations, with more than ten million customers now using the card.

“This equates to 37% of the financially active population of Korea, with eco-related sales increasing by 160% from 2013 to 2014.”
